Live Updates:
08/22 10:40pm: Jason is out of the water and heading to shore. Unfortunately, 9km into the swim in 4ft waves Jason got caught under one of his zodiac support boats on a feed and when put his hand up to protect himself he injured his shoulder. These things can happen in chaotic weather. He tried to keep swimming, but wasn’t able to put his arm over his head and knew 42km with an injured shoulder wouldn’t work. Thanks to all for watching - it was a long boat ride in, but all are dry and heading home (now it’s about 3:45am on Friday).
08/22 7:08pm: Jason is suited up and ready to swim. Waiting for boats and he’s off. Water is chilly but spirits are high!
08/20 3:48pm: Let’s go! The team found a new boat, which means a new date!! Jason's planning on taking off this week sometime between this Thursday to Saturday (Aug 22-24). We've got a great skeleton crew ready to go - but we'd love to have a few back-up crew (feeders, boat drivers etc...) on call if anyone is free for the ride of their lives (20 hours across Lake Ontario). Send an email to jason.kloss@kloss2cross.com.
Hoping the weather cooperates! Glad to all who came together to make the swim happen this week!
08/09 10:10am: We wish we had better news, but unfortunately, we're now facing not only thunderstorms but also strong winds exceeding 40km/h. These conditions aren’t in our favour and could create hazardous situations during crew transfers, so we're currently reassessing our options for the crossing.
At this point, we can't proceed with the swim this weekend as planned. We're exploring alternative boat and crew arrangements.
08/08 8:32am: Due to some leftover weather from Tropical Storm Debby expected to hit Toronto on Friday night, the start time has been moved to Friday late morning/early afternoon.
